WHAT DOES THE WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER DO?

We help people connect, cope and have hope.

The Women’s Resource Center is a non-profit organization providing a place for women to achieve personal & professional goals.  The WRC offers educational and networking opportunities, support and information regarding community resources.

The WRC offers New Choices – Strategies for Success as a main service.  Designed specifically for displaced homemakers, New Choices provides encouragement and support to individuals during times of transition: family breakup, job loss, financial downturns, health issues and other situations that prevent personal self-sufficiency.  New Choices offers free individual coaching, self-sufficiency planning, and individual goal setting. Limited financial assistance may be available for tuition assistance, books, and transportation if returning to school is advisable.

Who is a Displaced Homemaker?

A Displaced Homemaker is an individual who has worked primarily in the home providing unpaid services to the family for at least five years and has been dependent on another household member for financial support.  The individual may have worked outside the home yet was not the primary source of income while continuing to be the homemaker.  Now this homemaker must enter the workforce and seek employment to support themselves and possibly the family.  Due to the time focusing on homemaking, the Displaced Homemaker is having difficulty finding employment without any recent work experience, a lack of education, or marketable skills.
